MISSION & PURPOSE.

Hello! My name is Irene Ghosh and I am a rising senior at Sherwood High School. I am an active member of this community, and as a former student at Belmont Elementary School, I am dedicated to helping its beloved staff and students. I have been volunteering at Belmont for the past 4 years along side participating in Girl Scouts. As an Ambassador and member of Scouting for over 12 years, it has been a goal of mine to earn my Girl Scout Gold Award ever since I was a Daisy. Working alongside your Principal, Mr. Pinkowitz, I believed that creating a garden for our community to enjoy would be the perfect project. So this is exactly what I did! Alongside beautifying and constructing the garden in the front of the school, another goal of mine was getting our students involved. Even though the Pandemic has made this difficult, I have created this website with the purpose of virtually teaching young members of our community about the importance of sustainability. Not only can local students and staff use this website as a helpful resource, but others -even across the country!- are encouraged to visit and learn from this site. My mission is to take on the complex and urgent issues of global and local sustainability by exploring the relationships among natural and built environments; advances in technology and efficiency; and differences in environments across the nation.

Hopefully, after reading through this website you will have a better appreciation of the planet we live in. Hopefully, this site will help you to make more sustainable moves in your own life, your community, and your gardening choices! As the next generation, it is up to YOU to make a difference- so why not start now!

Thank you for taking the time to look at my site and if you have time, fill out my survey below. Have a wonderful day!

Thank You.

It has taken a lot of work for me to be able to get to this point and have the opportunity to complete this project. I would like to thank Belmont Elementary School, Mr. Pinkowitz and staff, my brother, my fellow Girl Scouts, my Troop leaders, and Girl Scouts of America.
